Harrah's Casino & The World Series of Poker

Harrah's Casino & The World Series of PokerWorld Series of Poker (WSOP) was started in 1969 and then was nurtured by Las Vegas casino owner and poker player Benny Binion and his two sons Jack and Ted. Since 1970 up until 2005, WSOP was held at Binion’s Horseshoe casino. In 2004, Harrah’s Entertainment purchased the rights to the Horseshoe and World Series of Poker brands. In 2005, when Harrah’s Entertainment chose to host WSOP at its Rio’s Hotel and Casino property, they made a decision to find a partner that would help with the purchasing and the distribution WSOP branded products.

OMS Online not only helped with Harrah’s basic needs of purchasing and product fulfillment, but also helped in the following areas:

  • First ever Online Registration for WSOP Circuit and Regular Tournaments in 2005. Interested parties now could register online and the process was streamlined.
  • Security of Data is of utmost importance to Harrah’s Entertainment. Hosting the webservers and database servers in a high security datacenter such as Savvis allows OMS to be a certified IT Vendor of Harrah’s Entertainment. All data is stored in a safe and secured manner with use of crypto-api encryption when required.
  • Hosting of www.worldseriesofpoker.com in 2005 and in addition handled the online broadcasting of the live WSOP Tournament at Rios with millions of concurrent visitors watching the event online using load balanced web servers and clustered databases.
  • Built a custom solution to handle the eCommerce needs for consumers interested in purchasing WSOP authentic products directly from Harrah’s Entertainment. System integrates with the Harrah’s accounting system. Real time Profit Reports are made available to the client making them aware of their online business.
  • In 2005, Harrah’s made a decision to require all of their properties to purchase WSOP branded goods from one central place. OMS System is used by Property Managers to place wholesale / B2B orders at wholesale prices.
  • OMS is responsible for the purchasing needs of WSOP and http://www.shopwsop.com The OMS system can adjust in real-time the product reorder thresholds based on how quickly products sell and how quickly they can be ordered from the product vendors.   • Harrah’s also wanted to outsource the call center and email customer support needs for WSOP to a vendor that could handle the load and provide the quality service that Harrah’s expects its customers to receive. After careful interviews, Harrah’s chose OMS to handle this aspect of their business as well. The OMS Call Center is capable to handle the B2C and B2B business of Harrah’s via phone and email.

The ONE Campaign

The ONE CampaignThe ONE Campaign is part of the “Global Call to Action Against Poverty” movement (the largest anti-poverty coalition in the world). The name of the campaign comes from the organization’s goal of energizing people in the United States to lobby Congress to increase humanitarian aid by ONE Percent of the federal budget with the aim of fighting AIDS and extreme poverty in the developing world. ONE was originally founded with the help of a $3 million grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and non-profit humanitarian and advocacy organizations such as DATA, World Vision, Oxfam America, and Bread for the World.

To help promote The ONE Campaign, the group decided to sell various merchandise from Bands to T-Shirts with the word “ONE” on them. They chose an online and distribution partner who could meet the following requirements:

  • The eCommerce service provider must be able to handle thousands of orders per hour.
  • The eCommerce service provider must be able to handle denial of service attacks which often occur due to national and international publicity.
  • The eCommerce service provider must be able to prevent large amounts of fraudulent orders, especially orders that are placed for International destinations.
  • The eCommerce system must integrated with customized Warehouse Management modules and Shipping System modules such large quantity of orders are picked, packed, quality controlled, and shipped in a timely and efficient manner.
  • The eCommerce system must be load balanced across many servers such that should there be a spike in visitor traffic due to sudden publicity, the ONE.org website remains up and running.
  • The eCommerce service provider must also be able to provide email and telephone customer support.

Pro Team Golf LeagueThe Pro Team Golf League (PTGL) is real professional golf with a twist. The teams of golfers (playing in match-play format) are assembled, coordinated and coached by the fans through the ptgl.com website.

A unique concept coupled with an avid community of golf enthusiasts combine to form season long competition between teams, both on the golf course and on the virtual sidelines.

PTGL approached OMS seeking not only a standard e-commerce provider, but also demanding such requirements as subscription based products, digital products, and product renewal campaigns. While meeting these requirements, OMS dived into additional custom software development while creating Strat.e.Golf, an online subscription based game.

Major components include:
