PCI Certification
Below is an update in reference to the new security issues with Credit Card Processing as your credit card processing provider must be PCI Certified.
PCI Certification (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) is a set of requirements designed by the major credit card providers to ensure that ALL companies that process, store or transmit credit card information via a merchant account, maintain all the credit card information in a PCI approved secure environment.
The PCI Council (PCI SSC) was launched on September 7, 2006 and created by the major payment card brands (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and JCB.) to manage the ongoing evolution of the Payment Card Industry (PCI) security standards with focus on improving payment account security throughout the transaction process.
If you plan on processing credit cards online, you must have a PCI Certified provider to host your site!
